Spotlight on the equipment I have used this morning drafting the first pattern for the Briggs Blouse. Shameless plug alert: most of these tools are available from @stitcherylewes ! My beloved patternmaster though, is 40 years old now and still the most important thing I use. The Briggs is planned to be simple and straightforward with only 6 pattern pieces . DW we’ll still pre-cut, pre-interface and pre-buttonhole the kit. And in breaking news we’re planning on including sizes 8 and 10 . Princess seaming gives the tunic a good shape and allows you to reshape if necessary. Not obvious here, but needs mentioning- it has POCKETS! YAY!

We cut out all fabric pieces, interface where appropriate and pre-sew and cut the buttonholes on the placket piece which forms the hidden button fly. Here’s the back view of the Anson Tunic in our Blue Garden printed cotton poplin. If you look closely, you can see the generous centre back vent which gives extra room to stretch and move without making the hem width wider. The hem is curved so the tunic has an attractive shape.
